READING PUBLIC SCHOOLS <br />Reading, Massachusetts <br />SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING <br />JOINT MEETING WITH FINANCE COMMITTEE SEPTEMBER 27 1995 <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />The Joint Meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room at Town Hall. All <br />members of the School Committee were present except Timothy Twomey. Also in attendance <br />were Superintendent Dr. Harry K. Harutunian, Assistant Superintendent Dennis Richards, Town <br />Treasurer Elizabeth Klepeis and Town Accountant Richard Foley. <br />UNION CONTRACT SETTLEMENTS <br />Chairman Matthew Cummings reviewed the contract settlement with the Reading Teachers <br />Association and the Educational Assistants. <br />Dr. I larry Harutunian reviewed the process he used to analyze the Fiscal Year 199.5 budget and <br />then explained how each account in the Fiscal Year 1996 budget was reconciled in August 1995. <br />$211,000 was transferred to Special Education to cover projected costs. $277,000 is the pro- <br />jected deficit for Fiscal Year 1996. <br />Dr. 1 larutunian then invited questions on the budget materials. Several Finance Committee <br />members thanked the Superintendent for the materials, praising him for the clarity and detail of <br />the presentation of information. <br />ADJOURN <br />At 8_55 o.m__tile meeting was adiourned_on a motion made bv Robert Spadafora and seconded by <br />Susan ('avicchi. <br />Ms. Cavicchi, Mr. Cummings, Ms. D'Antona, Mr. Spadafora and Mr. Stohlman <br />—Re ectf ly s`ubmitted <br />Harr Harutunian, Ph.D. <br />Super ntendent of Schools <br />
