Reading Public Schools <br />Reading, Massachusetts <br />Regular Meeting of the School Committee <br />Open Session <br />Date: October 10, 2012 <br />Time: 6:00 p.m. <br />Place: Reading Senior Center <br />School Committee Members Present <br />Karen Janowski <br />Hal Croft <br />Rob Spadafora <br />Lisa Gibbs <br />Chris Caruso <br />Chuck Robinson <br />Call to Order <br />Staff Members Present <br />John Doherty, Superintendent <br />RECEIVED <br />TOWN CLERK <br />READING, MASS. <br />2012 NOV - l A 8. 21 <br />Patty de Garavilla, Assistant Superintendent <br />Mary DeLai, Assistant Superintendent <br />Conner Traugot, Student Representative <br />Chairperson Janowski called the School Committee to order at 6:00 p.m. <br />She reviewed the agenda. <br />Mr. Croft moved, seconded by Mr. Caruso, to go into Executive Session to consider the <br />purchase, exchange, lease or value of real property because the Chair has declared that an <br />open meeting may have a detrimental effect on the negotiating portion of the public body and <br />to reconvene in Open Session. The motion carried on a roll call vote 6 -0. Mr. Robinson, Mr. <br />Caruso, Mr. Spadafora, Mr. Croft, Mrs. Gibb and Mrs. Janowski. <br />The meeting recessed at 6:02 p.m. <br />The meeting was called back to order at 6:40 p.m. <br />II. Recommended Procedure <br />A. Public Input (I) <br />None <br />B. Continued Business <br />1. Continued Discussion Elementary Space Study <br />Superintendent Doherty updated the Committee on construction options, renting or <br />buying property, and building a new school to address the elementary space needs. He <br />recommends postponing the creation of a School Building Committee at this time. <br />
