BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING <br />MINUTES <br />October 16, 2012 <br />The meeting of the Reading Board of Health came to order at 5:30 pm in the Conference <br />Room of Reading Town Hall. Present were Board members Barbara Meade, David <br />Singer, staff Ruth Clay and Town Manager, Peter Hechenbleickner. Andrew Friedmann <br />was absent. <br />Minutes <br />A motion was made by Meade to accept minutes of September 18, 2012 with <br />amendments. Motion seconded by Singer; motion passed 2:0:0 <br />Health Director's Report <br />• Clay advised peanut butter recall has become widespread involving more <br />products. Recall information will be sent to Board with updated products. <br />• Orange Leaf - Application process status remains unchanged. Building permits <br />issued for asbestos removal. Tenants must be out of space before further permits <br />for interior renovation work can begin. <br />• Oye's — Clay gave latest update from progress report provided by Oye's <br />consultant. Copy of report to be sent to board members. <br />Other business and items not reasonably anticipated at the time of posting: <br />• Clay reported there were 222 flu shots given at the Killam School Flu Clinic on <br />October 3, 2012. <br />• Maureen Buzby, Tobacco Control Coordinator will attend November meeting to <br />give an update on tobacco grant and compliance. <br />• 6 -11 Variety, formerly Gulf Express, 85 Main Street - The new owner of the <br />property who had been leasing for past 3 years applied for new permits. The <br />Board discussed waiving the fee as it was basically a name change only. Meade <br />made a motion to waive the fee, seconded by Singer; motion passed 2:0:0 <br />• Clay advised the regulation on Keeping of Animals should be updated. A draft <br />regulation will be presented at next meeting. <br />• Following a recent incident involving underage drinking of 40 youths at a house <br />party resulting in 38 arrests, the Town Manager met with representatives of <br />Melrose, Wakefield and Saugus to discuss having common policies within the <br />surroundings towns in respect to alcohol and drug use. <br />
