Committee, Nancy Linn Swain, Rec. Committee Member,
Eric Hughes, Rec. Committee Member, Kate Kaminer, Rec. Committee Member, Richard Hand,
Rec. Committee Member, John Feudo, Recreation Administrator
F. Driscoll called the meeting to order at 7:06 PM.
J. Feudo stated he left a copy of the minutes from the June meeting in his office. The Committee
stated that would just table the acceptance of the minutes until the October meeting.
K. Kaminer gave an update regarding the amplified sound ad hoc committee. She stated the
committee has met once so far. They went over the committees charges and discussed possible
items the committee will need to look at. She stated eventually the committee will do some site
visits to try to determine appropriateness in certain parks. She said the committee would work to
develop a work plan.
J. Feudo updated the committee on the Tennis Monitor program from the summer. He felt the
program went well. The coordination was somewhat difficult from time to time, but overall the
senior tax workers did a good job. Over 70 passes were sold to residents as well as 2 out of town
passes. The feedback from the monitors was that the courts still had high traffic, but the wait was
minimal on most nights. Overall the program was a success and it will be done again next summer
with some tweaks. J. Feudo stated he will look to hire staff versus utilizing senior tax workers.
J. Feudo gave an overview of the budget. He reviewed the summer participation numbers reports
gains in virtually every area. Summer camp and Junior Camp in particular both had nice increases
in participation. Otherwise the sports camps and clinics were strong highlighted by the girls varsity
basketball clinic which had close to 150 kids!
Administrator's Report:
J. Feudo gave an overview of the fall programming schedule.
J. Feudo mentioned he will be looking for a couple of sets of hands to help out with the Halloween
parade. If anyone is interested please send a quick email indicating that. The Halloween parade is
set for October 30`" at the Coolidge Middle School- step off at 12 PM.
The extra lights at Birch Meadow are in and being used. They work great. J. Feudo is working on
getting a second meter for the lights to make the administration of them easier.
