The consensus of the Commission was that Ms.
Adams should serve as Chair for this meeting.
There being a quorum the Chair called the meeting to order.
115 West Street
The applicant was not present. The applicant proposes to enclose a roofed, rear porch with window -
panels to create a three- season room.
The Chair informed the Commission that her research revealed the original structure traces back to at
least the year 1840. The Commission praised the applicant's choice of materials: true divided -light
window - panels in wood frames.
The consensus of the Commission was that the work did fall under its jurisdiction and would require
a Certificate of Appropriateness. As the finished structure was in the rear and only partially visible
from the right -of -way, the Commission decided a public hearing would not be necessary.
Ms. Poehler moved the Commission issue a Certificate of Appropriateness and waive a public
hearing for the worked proposed for 115 West Street. Mr. Blodgett seconded and the motion
passed 3:0:0. .
257 West Street
The applicant, Vice -Chair Steve O'Shea, was not present. The applicant proposes to replace fences
on his property. Some of these fences had been taken down earlier in the year because they were in
poor condition.
The consensus of the Commission was that the work did fall under its jurisdiction and would require
a Certificate of Appropriateness. Also, the Commission decided a public hearing could be waived as
there had been fences there originally and the fences would not have a significant impact on the
streetscape.
