781 <br />Marianne Baker is requesting to buy back 2 years and 4 months of creditable service (8/15/76- 2/16/79) during the 2 <br />years and one month in which she was employed for the Division of Employment Security and the 3 months in which <br />she was employed by Stoneham. The total cost is $3,496.00 and she will pay $27.00 per paycheck starting December 1, <br />2001. <br />The board members approved this buyback. <br />Eleven retirees were sent second notices on November 9, 2001 regarding their affidavits. Four have not been returned <br />yet. They are from Gael Desmond, Gerald Hoyt, John Louanis, and Myrtle Waelde. Gerald Hoyt called on November <br />14 to say that he was mailing his affidavit He said his daughter was supposed to have mailed the first one so it seems <br />to have been lost. The second one still has not arrived. <br />The administrator will try to contact these four retirees one more time before any action is taken. <br />A transfer of $63,250.78 was received from the Danvers Retirement Board for RMLD station operator Mark Russell. <br />An election notice will be sent with the December 14 checks to inform retirees of the upcoming election in March. <br />Non - contributory retirees and survivors will not receive this notice. The notice will be posted at 8 Town locations and <br />all schools on December 14, 2001 and included in the December "Town of Reading Employee Newsletter ". Also to be <br />included in the notice, if received in time, is the health insurance rate increases. <br />The Board members voted to appoint Karen DeAngelis, the Board Administrator, as the election officer. The location, <br />date and time of election will follow a similar pattern as last year's election. <br />John Dempsey is a Cafeteria Driver during the school year and a Custodian during the summer. His Personnel Action <br />Form states he is full-time. He is not in the Reading Retirement System He contributes to Social Security. At the <br />April 25, 2001 Board meeting it was decided that more information would be gathered for a future meeting. To date <br />nothing has been discussed. <br />The Board members voted to require John to join the Reading Retirement System. The hours he has worked since July <br />1999 are consistent with full -time employment. <br />Memo from PERAC, dated October 17, 2001, regarding "Regular Compensation and Motor Vehicle Usage ". Richard <br />Foley will discuss this memo with the Town Manager and begin to move forward and comply with this memo. <br />Correspondence: <br />Ruth Schubarth requested to be transferred to the Town's Health Insurance. A letter was sent to her from <br />Elizabeth Klepeis stating that the Retirement Board has no jurisdiction over the health insurance issue but that <br />she will be eligible to join the Town's plan on March 1, 2002. <br />A notice will be sent with the November 30 pension checks stating that the December checks will be mailed on <br />December 13 (payable on 12/14). <br />The Board members approved this. <br />Memo from PERAC, dated October 4, 2001, regarding "Military Service Credit Provisions for Members <br />Called to Active Military Duty". Currently there is no one affected by this. However, from 7/7/00 to 4/2/01, <br />Michael Lee, a police officer, had served in Bosnia. <br />The Board members requested that the administrator check with PERAC to see if this memo applies to time <br />served in Bosnia. <br />
