BOARD OF HEALTH MINUTES <br />March 15, 2012 <br />The meeting of the Reading Board of Health came to order at 5:40 pm in the Berger <br />Room of Reading Town Hall. Present were Board members Barbara Meade, David <br />Singer, Andrew Friedmann, and staff Ruth Clay. <br />Minutes <br />Motion made by Singer, seconded by Friedmann, to approve the minutes of February 16, <br />2012 as submitted. Motion passed 3:0:0 <br />A motion was made by Friedmann, seconded by Singer to open the public hearing <br />regarding revisions to Board of Health Regulation Section 9 of the Food Manager <br />Certification Code. Following a brief discussion Friedmann made a motion to adopt the <br />State Food Code as a local regulation and have the local regulation consistent with the <br />State Code. Motion was seconded by Singer. Motion passed 3:0:0. Friedmann made <br />motion to close public hearing, seconded by Singer. <br />Motion made by Friedmann, seconded by Singer to open public hearing regarding <br />revisions to Board of Health Regulation Section 22 Fee Schedule to be consistent with <br />those of Wakefield and Melrose Boards of Health. Meade made a motion to adopt <br />revisions to Section 22 Fee Schedule, seconded by Friedmann. Motion passed 3:0:0. <br />Friedmann made motion to close public hearing, seconded by Singer. <br />Other business and items not reasonably anticipated at the time of the posting <br />Clay report that at recent MHOA meeting DJ Wilson advised that Boards of <br />Health can now ban roll your own machines. The question arose as to how it <br />would affect someone who already has this process in place. Clay will research. <br />• At the next meeting in April, RCASA will be invited to give a presentation to <br />update the Board. The draft regulations will include the ban on sale of tobacco <br />products in pharmacies. <br />Due to non compliance of BOH Regulation Section 16.4 Selling or Gift of <br />Tobacco to Minors, an employee received a $50 fine per Section 16.10. This <br />regulation will be reviewed to be consistent with Wakefield and Melrose. A <br />training session will be offered for those businesses that have been in non- <br />compliance in Reading and surrounding towns. <br />A meeting was held in December with inspectors from Melrose, Wakefield and <br />Reading to discuss the effectiveness of inspections. A proposed ticketing policy <br />for enforcement of the Food Code was developed which should improve <br />inspections. Board of Selectman Liaison, Ben Tafoya will be invited to next <br />BOH meeting to discuss the proposed ticking policy. <br />
