BOARD OF HEALTH MINUTES <br />February 16, 2012 <br />The meeting of the Reading Board of Health came to order at 5:35 pm in the Berger <br />Room of Reading Town Hall. Present were Board members Barbara Meade, David <br />Singer, Andrew Friedmann, staff Ruth Clay and Joan Vitale. <br />In attendance: Dorjan Keka, Jimbo's Roast Beef & Seafood <br />Minutes <br />Motion made by Singer, seconded by Meade, to approve the minutes as submitted. <br />Motion passed 3:0:0 <br />The Board reviewed the fee schedule of Wakefield/Melrose/Reading. A notation will be <br />made to differentiate those permits that are issued on an annual basis. It was noted that <br />per State statute the fee for a recreational camp cannot be more than $10. This will be <br />reviewed, a request for change in fee submitted to Town Meeting for approval and if <br />accepted, the Board will set a reasonable fee that is comparable to the time spent <br />reviewing policies and records. <br />A motion was made by Friedmann, seconded by Meade to open. the public hearing for <br />suspension of the food permit issued to Jimbo's Roast Beef and Seafood. Motion passed <br />3:0:0. Following discussion with Mr. Keka of his failure to be in compliance of <br />105CMR590.003(A)(2), a motion was made by Friedmann to suspend the license until a <br />certified food manager could be on the premises full time (35 hours /week). The motion <br />was seconded by Singer and motion passed 3:0:0. Mr. Keka is scheduled to take the test <br />for recertification on Tuesday, February 28`h. _ <br />Plans were reviewed for a proposed five house subdivision to be located at 97 -101 Forest <br />Street. As the properties would receive Town services for water /sewer and trash, the <br />Board found no issues with the proposed subdivision. <br />Other business and items not reasonably anticipated at the time of the posting <br />• Clay advised that JK's Market and Reading Service, hmc. d/b /a Mobil on the Run <br />failed tobacco compliance checks and fines were issued. <br />• A memo will be sent to all tobacco sales permit holders regarding cigarette <br />making machines, one of which was installed at Mobil on the Run, 178 Main <br />Street. Efforts at the federal and state level aim to regulate or ban these machines. <br />The Board discourages the use of these machines and will report their location to <br />the Department of Public Health and assist in any enforcement procedures that are <br />implemented by state or federal government. <br />• Tobacco regulations will be reviewed. <br />
