Reading Cultural Council Minutes <br />March 12, 2012 Meeting, Reading Public Library Conference Room <br />Meeting started at 7:30 pm. Present were: Lorraine Horn, Peggy Caouette, Joan <br />Marshman, Colleen O'Shaughnessy, Lynne Cassinari, Vicki Schubert. <br />Secretaries report from January meeting edited and approved. February meeting <br />was cancelled due to lack of quorum. <br />Recap of State assembly: Vicki's blog was acknowledged as a great way to keep up <br />with the news from State assembly. Members who attended praised the gathering <br />as informative and interesting. We were given a plaque where our group was <br />awarded for "telling our story" I honor of the great job we did with our <br />informational video. It was suggested that we turn our next February meeting into a <br />trip to Annual Meeting for all members who are able to attend. Lynne has submitted <br />news articles to our two newspapers and the Patch that includes a blurb about our <br />looking for new members. <br />Lorraine will take our plaque to the Town Hall to display after our Grant recipient <br />reception in May. <br />Grant reception: A sub - committee was formed to plan and implement a reception <br />for our grant recipients from this past season and last. Peggy will be chairperson <br />and Vicki Co- chairperson. Vicki has a keyboard player in mind. Locations were <br />discussed. The reception will be on May 14th from 7:30 to 8:30 with a brief business <br />meeting preceding for Council members only. Colleen offered to help with <br />invitations. Monies in the budget may be spent on paper goods, the pianist, flowers. <br />Food will be donated by council members. The invitations should be sent out four <br />weeks prior to the event. The sub - committee will plan all the details. <br />Public relations: A couple of small news items featuring two past grant recipients <br />were discussed to appear over the summer. Lynne will put together something <br />about the Creative Arts group and Joan will do one on Reading Community Singers. <br />Steps to refine local guidelines: Wording was discussed to encourage new <br />applicants without limiting repeat applications. <br />
